Volunteering Through Cartier Mansion Bed and Breakfast

We believe that many travelers are looking for a purposeful experience instead of just a vacation. Stay on Purpose, Make your Mark offers our guests the opportunity to give a few hours of their time to positively impact the community the enjoy as visitors by volunteering with one of our local nonprofit partners. To set up a planned experience, upon booking your stay, call and let us know which experience you'd like to volunteer for. Our partners ask for a minimum three-hour commitment to the project planned at each location. If you choose to offer more of your time, that can be arranged.

Be a Lighthouse Keeper

Sable Points Lighthouse Keepers Association (SPKLA) is dedicated to restoring and preserving western Michigan lighthouses. SPLKA oversees the restoration and maintenance of Big Sable Point Lighthouse, Little Sable Point Lighthouse, Ludington North Breakwater Lighthouse, and the White River Light Station. 


The responsibilities of restoring and managing these four historic lighthouses have been rewarding. Are you ready to make your mark on preserving one of the lighthouses?

Habitat for Humanity of Mason County

Habitat for Humanity of Mason County is a non-profit organization that offers a hand-up in securing safe, decent, affordable housing to members of our community. You can volunteer in a number of ways. 


Neighbor to Neighbor. Volunteers are matched with elderly/disabled homeowners to help with small beautification projects, such as painting and landscaping, yard work.


ReStore. Participate in various areas of our ReStore, and socialize with folks from the community. Feeling creative? Work on a small upcycle/repurposing piece for us to sell in the ReStore.
